Crispy fried burdock root, known as gobo in Japan, is a great appetizer. It’s commonly served with maple syrup and a little salt for dipping, to cut the sweetness. The flavor is a cross between a carrot and a potato.
This cuisine is definitely unforgettable! Being back in LA, I definitely miss this dish the most! I haven't found a restaurant in America that can replicate this cuisine taste sadly.
I recommend going to Dotobori Street because they have the best service and it was a great experience there!

This has to be one of my favorite dish when I visited this city!
